In the Chinese Public Welfare Annual Meeting held on December 27, 2016, Kang Xiaoguang, President of China Institute for Philanthropy and Social Innovation, RUC and Professor of the School of Public Administration and Policy, was award Chinese Public Figure of the Year 2016. According to the sponsor, the selection is based on the influence, reputation and charisma of the candidates and the persistence of their acts of commonweal behavior.

On July 26, 2016, China Institute for Philanthropy and Social Innovation, RUC was funded. Kang Xiaoguang took the president. He was director of Institute of Non-Profit Organization and member of several charitable foundations. As a scholar, he supervised the social organizationsas a third party expert. For charity, he said, he was willing to be a loner.

An Introduction of Kang Xiaoguang

Kang Xiaoguang isProfessor of the School of Public Administration and Policy, RUC. He took the director of Institute of Non-Profit Organization since 2007 and the president of China Institute for Philanthropy and Social Innovation since July, 2016. His research expertise includes nonprofit management, political development and political stability, and commonweal couture. At present, he is the vice chairman of China Youth Development Foundation, and member of several charitable foundations including Narada Foundation and Dunhe Foundation etc. He was twice awarded the first prize for the Science and Technology Progress Award issued by Chinese Academy of Sciences.

An Introduction of China Institute for Philanthropy and Social Innovation

China Institute for Philanthropy and Social Innovation was funded on July 26, 2016 in Renmin University of China. It is a base for charity research and education, as well as a new folk think tank. Its establishment is an important measure of RUC to build a world-class university and meet the strategic requirement of the government.
